Making Mini-Me

I mentioned (ages ago) about knitting a gift for Valentines Day and promised that I’d get back to you if I ever got up the enthusiasm to finish it. Not that it wasn’t nice to knit, it’s just that knitting under the pressure of a time limit is awful. Anyway, my surprise Valentines gift was a little mini-me doll. I’m going away lots this year and thought it would make a funny gift to keep Mr. A company.I found a sweet doll pattern by Ysolda and got to it.

I got fed up with the pattern the first time because I knit it using 3mm dpns the first time and I just felt it was a little too loose and I saw too much stuffing trying to peak out. So I ripped back and started again using 2.75mm dpns and I’m much happier with it. The body was really simple to make and the only cursing came when I went to make the wig (3 times before I was vaguely happy with it) and sew the face (argh! the eyes will do, but the mouth may have to be redone [for about the 7 time] when I have more time). I didn’t get time to finish her little shoes either. I promise when I get back I’ll pick it up again. I may even knit her a new bright and summery dress. Overall, a good knit and very well written pattern (but I’m biased because I’m a fan of Ysolda’s other patterns).
