Adventures with Buttons

Following my Fimo Button Making Tutorial I’ve been up to my ears in buttons, so here begins a series of possible crafts and project ideas using them. First on the list: Button bookmarks. This is a child friendly project and is perfectly timed for back to school, back to uni, or simply back to being stuck indoors with a good book as Autumn comes a callin’.

All you need for this project is:

  • Some ribbon scraps
  • Buttons (your own homemade or bought)
  • Magnetic tape
  • Double sided tape

The directions are very simple and feel free to amend them to your own liking or if inspiration hits!

  1. Cut a length of ribbon about 10mm/4 inches in length
  2. Cut two small tabs of magnetic tape. Using double sided tape stick your magnets at opposite ends of your ribbon. Make sure your magnets attract each other when folded. Get rid of any frayed ends on your ribbon by folding them over before sticking down your magnets.
  3. Fold your piece of ribbon, joining the magnets. Attach your chosen button to bottom of one side using double sided tape. And there you go! I added some wool and threaded it through my button holes just for decoration.

Happy Reading K1Sl1 readers.
