Love Buns

It’s almost the big V-Day, so time for an inspired baking project. We are all so busy during the week that it’s hard to do something special, but with Valentines days being on Monday, with the big long weekend before it is just perfectly place for a surprise baking project. Bake these Chocolate Chip Heart Shaped Scones over the weekend and pop them in your loved ones lunch boxes on Monday. A delightful and delicious surprise indeed. They are really simple to knock up and take literally minutes. They are my store cupboard emergency breakfast recipe.

Ingredients –

  • 300g of Plain Flour
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons of Baking Powder
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon of Icing Sugar
  • 30g of Butter, Melted
  • 200ml of Milk
  • 100g of Dark Chocolate Chips

To Bake –

  1. Preheat your oven to 220 degrees C (425 degrees F)
  2. Sift all you dry ingredients into a mixing bowl (Flour, Baking Powder, Salt, Icing Sugar)
  3. Add your chocolate chips
  4. Mix together your melted butter and milk and add gradually to your dry mix. Try not to over mix the mixture and stop when it is just coming together.
  5. Roll out on a floured surface, just under an inch thick and using a cookie cutter cut out your buns
  6. Place on grease proof paper in close proximity (they will merge slightly)
  7. Brush with milk and sprinkle sugar onto and place in the oven for 15 minutes until golden
